Lincolnshire

We want maternity and neonatal services in Lincolnshire to meet the needs of local families. To help us to do this we wanted to hear from you - the families!

We planned a series of 'What Matters To You' roadshow events which would bring together a host of different services that families might meet along the journey to parenthood. We invited families along to meet with the services and share with us what is important to them at all stages of the pregnancy and parenthood journey.

The first event took place in Skegness in October 2022.  This was followed by events in Boston, Gainsborough, Lincoln and our final event took place in Grantham in February 2024.

Support for the events has been fantastic and we have been able to connect families with a range of different services

- Midwifery

- Infant feeding

- STAAR Team

- FAB Team (neonatal)

- Perinatal Mental Health

- Birthing pool hire

- Health Visiting services

- Children's Centres

- Diabetes

- One You Lincolnshire

- Recovery College

- Illegal money lending support

- Anglian Water

- Citizens Advice

- Wellbeing Lincs

What matters to you

We spoke with families and staff and here are some of the things you told us mattered to you about maternity & neonatal services in Lincolnshire.

Graphic showing comments heard about birth and beyond. Families said they wanted flexibility with visiting hours, to feel in control of their experience, being made to feel cared for, feeding support, easy to access contraception, seeing the same health visitor for each visit, to be asked how they are and listened to.
Graphic showing comments made about transport; public transport is expensive, parking costs are too hight, need for more and bigger parking spaces at hospitals, public service routes are being reduced, some buses don't turn up, travelling to other towns can take a long time, we need more parent & child spaces.
Graphic to show comments about birth choices. Families said they'd like to be supported to have a home birth, give birth close to home, they want to have a choice about where to have appointments. The graphic also shows comments received about care during pregnancy, families said they want good communication and information, more support for baby loss, face to face antenatal classes, to feel listened to and have choices,

New Possibilities attended each event and spoke with families to capture their thoughts and feelings about maternity & neonatal services in Lincolnshire.

Thank you to all of the families,  services and staff who joined us for the events.

Thank you
